The MagSafe Power Adapter features a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection.

I bought this realizing it was a generic charger for sure--all the others I've purchased with this white box design allow the plug to be removed so you can plug in your EXTENSION CORD into the white square. With this one, it's a solid piece and doesn't offer that pretty standard feature.
And the end that connects to the macbook does have a magnet, but if say, you're in bed, on a couch, have it on a coffee table where ever and bump the cord slightly, the magnet will tilt slightly and it stops charging or it falls off. The original cord/other generics do come off if you trip over them, but they don't fall off so easily like this one, and none of them would tilt to the side like this then just stop charging yet stay partly connected.
IMAGE: Note the charger is *plugged in* and was charging fine, then a slight movement of the cord or the macbook, and then it's connected but not charging. The green light should be ON. Sometimes there isn't even a tilt, it's stuck there, straight, but the light is just off for unknown reason. Poor design/quality.
I would have preferred a refund for this product, but when I asked they wanted to sell me a more expensive product instead--not give a refund. I did not get any further email response from my request for a return and won't be using this company again.
